METHOD
How we survey. And the criteria we use.
Equipment
- Ekahau Sidekick 2
- Active and passive survey
- Spectrum analysis
What we measure
Signal strength, SNR, co-channel interference, cell overlap, noise floor, channel width, data rate and retry rate — together with roaming conditions along defined routes such as picking aisles, forklift routes and AGV paths.
Our acceptance criteria
We assess your environment against thresholds for each use case. Any deviations from these criteria form the basis of the prioritized action list.
| Criterion | Scanner / handheld | Voice / push-to-talk | AGV / AMR |
|---|---|---|---|
| Primary coverage (5 GHz) | −67 dBm | −65 dBm | −65 dBm |
| SNR | ≥ 25 dB | ≥ 25 dB | ≥ 25 dB |
| Cell overlap | 15–20% | 20% | 20% |
| Secondary AP above −82 dBm | ≥ 1 | ≥ 2 | ≥ 2 |
What you receive
- A heatmap for each floor and zone
- Spectrum analysis
- A prioritized action list
- The Ekahau project file (.esx) — the raw data belongs to you
What we do not do
- No access to firewalls, WMS platforms or controllers
- No logins to your systems
- No installation
Passive and active surveys — what that means for you
Passive surveys and spectrum analysis require nothing from your systems: our equipment only listens to the radio environment and does not connect to a network. During an active survey — when we verify throughput and roaming — we connect to your WiFi as a standard client using a temporary guest account or a key that you issue and revoke immediately afterwards. We never require administrative access or logins to firewalls, WMS platforms or controllers.
Frequently asked questions
What equipment do you use for the survey?
Ekahau Sidekick 2 for active and passive surveys and spectrum analysis. We use our own equipment, with no installation and no logins to your systems.
What do you measure during a site survey?
Signal strength, SNR, co-channel interference, cell overlap, noise floor, channel width, data rate, retry rate and roaming conditions along defined routes.
What is included in the delivery?
A heatmap for each floor and zone, spectrum analysis, a prioritized action list and the Ekahau project file (.esx) — the raw data belongs to you.
Do you need access to our systems?
No. Passive surveys and spectrum analysis require no connection — the equipment only listens. For an active survey, we connect to your WiFi as a standard client using a temporary guest account or a key that you issue and revoke. We never require administrative access to firewalls, WMS platforms or controllers.
